The Welcome Reception will take place at the Upper Belvedere. You will be served drinks and canapés in the magnificent atmosphere of the Marble Hall, followed by a guided visit of the highlights of the museum’s art collection: Gustav Klimt’s masterpieces “The Kiss” and “Judith I”. |
| The Belvedere The Belvedere´s two magnificent palaces, the Upper and Lower Belvedere, were built in the 18th century for summer residence for the important general Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736) by one of the most outstanding Baroque architects, Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt (1668-1745). The palaces with their extensive gardens are considered to be one of the world´s finest Baroque landmarks. |

The Upper Belvedere houses an impressive collection of Austrian art, dating from the Middle Age to the present day. The heart of the displays of "art around 1900" are masterpieces by Gustav Klimt, Schiele and Kokoschka. The glittering highlights of the exposition are Klimt’s golden pictures “The Kiss” and “Judith I”. Prominent works by the French Impressionists and an outstanding collection of Viennese Biedermeier paintings are further attractions at the Upper Belvedere.
