Welcome Reception at the Upper Belvedere

© Margherita Spiluttini		 The Welcome Reception will take place at the Upper Belvedere. You will be served drinks and canapés in the magnificent atmosphere of the Marble Hall, followed by a guided visit of the highlights of the museum’s art collection: Gustav Klimt’s masterpieces “The Kiss” and “Judith I”.
   
The Belvedere

The Belvedere´s two magnificent palaces, the Upper and Lower Belvedere, were built in the 18th century for summer residence for the important general Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736) by one of the most outstanding Baroque architects, Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt (1668-1745). The palaces with their extensive gardens are considered to be one of the world´s finest Baroque landmarks.
   

The Upper Belvedere houses an impressive collection of Austrian art, dating from the Middle Age to the present day. The heart of the displays of "art around 1900" are masterpieces by Gustav Klimt, Schiele and Kokoschka. The glittering highlights of the exposition are Klimt’s golden pictures “The Kiss” and “Judith I”. Prominent works by the French Impressionists and an outstanding collection of Viennese Biedermeier paintings are further attractions at the Upper Belvedere.

Gala Dinner at the Vienna City Hall

The Mayor and Governor of the city and province of Vienna, Dr. Michael Häupl, is pleased to invite you to the EFR Gala Dinner at the Vienna City Hall. We hope that you will join us for a special evening in Viennese atmosphere at the impressive Festive Hall of the Vienna City Hall.
Background music: the Vienna Big Band Project (VBBP)
The conductor Anton Stift is not only an excellent colorectal surgeon but also a gifted musician. The musical repertoire of the Viennese big band stretches from Jazz and Swing to Latin and Funk and will contribute to create a lively and festive ambiance for this evening!

Vienna City Hall
The City Hall is one of the most splendid buildings amongst the numerous monuments along Vienna´s Ringstrasse. Built in a neo-Gothic style by Friedrich von Schmidt between 1872 and 1883, the 100-meter-tall edifice is the most important secular work of its style in the city. Today the City Hall is the head office of Vienna´s municipal administration. More than 2000 people work in the building.
